The winners of our Coventry Fashion Heroes competition visited Arena for their style transformation last week as it was a day filled with fun and fashion!
We asked you to nominate a local essential worker who’s been a superhero and deserved a special treat and were overwhelmed by the amazing response. The winner’s chosen were Peighton Patel Adams (Age 25), the Activity Co-ordinator for Coventry Young Carers, Adam Garner (Age 32) who has spent hundreds of unpaid hours at Coventrians Rugby Club in Holbrooks during lockdown looking after it for the community and Linzie O’Keef (Age 35), a nurse in UHCW operating theatres who worked through the pandemic as well as caring for her three little girls.
Accompanied by super stylist Emma Russell who have them some top fashion tips, each winner selected a brand new look from Arena’s stores including Next, New Look, M&S and F&F. The amazing team at Boots also gave them a fabulous makeover and they then enjoyed a relaxing meal at Nando’s to recover from their retail therapy!
Linzi commented of her experience, “Just wanted to say thank you so much. The advice Emma gave was invaluable and I really appreciate the time she spent with me, helping me dress my body type! The treats at boots were a lovely surprise and I loved the Nando’s lunch. I felt really special. And to prove I have taken Emma’s advice, I went out today with my T-shirt tucked in!!”
Peignton adds, “I was so shocked when I heard I had won the competition as I had no idea that I had even been nominated, what made it even more special is that it came from a young carer and his mum that I work with!! It really made me appreciate my job even more and to know I have made a positive impact on their life!
“I was a bit nervous on Saturday as I wasn’t really sure what to expect of the day however upon meeting Emma and Leanne and talking to them I felt really at ease!! It was great to work with Emma to pick out so really nice clothes and know which styles suit my body type as well as learning which colours best match with my skin tone. I will admit I was really unsure of sizing but working with Emma and Leanna and them reassuring me I felt comfortable and having the option to order the clothes if they didn’t have my size helped.
“I would also like to thank the team at Boots for the makeover, they were so helpful in sharing helpful tips and tricks for better skin and how to apply the makeup. I am not someone who wears makeup all the time so asked for a more natural look which they did and looked really good. Through their help, tips and tricks I am really considering wearing makeup more often.”
Check out this fab film which captures some of their experiences when they visited Arena Shopping Park. Thanks to all of you who nominated these amazing local people as Coventry Fashion Heroes!
